I began to get a little interested in this 'giant tomato' contest... First looked up stuff on Scotts Miracle-gro.. found some real interesting info on that company... Made me smile in sarcasm...
Apparently, Scotts has initiated a no-smokers workforce. And there were several articles bashing Scotts about firing anyone that refused to quite smoking.... Ironically, Scotts wants to 'help' their employees live healthier lives (and help Scotts save on medical costs..) -YET- the way N and other elements/salts are produced and processed in order to manufacture their fertilizer is highly toxic to the environment....hmmmmm... And it's amazing what happens to the chemical-laden runoff that comes from the gardens using this product..
The other interesting find - was a company selling seeds from world-record tomatos. They showed a photo of a tomato on a scale. About 5.1 lbs...
Dam-it!!! I've had tomatos nearly that big off of Beefsteak plants - just thought they were normal .. and at the time I was angry because they didn't 'steam and peel' as easy as the others I was canning....
I was thinking these would be 200-300 lbs.. Maybe you 1300+ GP growers have warped my expectations????

Scotts employee infringements aside, check the salt content (if you can find it anywhere) of their 20-20-20. I've decided to only use Miller's Floral Grade 20-20-20 Nutri-Leaf.
Miller's is <.025% Scott's is around 2% the last time I could find it published.

You also need to look at the formula change on the boxes five pounds and smaller. Here in Indiana the boxes that are five pounds and under are not 15-30-15 anymore instead thay are now 24-8-16! That is really going to mess some people up. The 7.5 and 10 lb. boxes ae still 15-30-15. I just thought I would let you guys know.
