I've tried the 'advanced seed starting method'. Apparently, arthritic fingers tend to damage the sensitive growth regions too badly for recovery. Lost every single one of my 'victims' (using a 'home grown' variety that I have couple hundred seeds from)
So on to a 'modified advanced seed starting method'. This method you just pinch both edges off the point end (growing tip), then plant them carefully just beneith the soil surface (tip pointed down), water thoroughly, and keep temp at 80+. Used 8 'victims'.
Happy to report a 100% germination rate amongst the victims within 5 days.

If it was a $400-600 dollar seed I would not recommend this

I did it on a 1068 and 1104.5 last year (only the peal the tip part, used another method for the rest of the procedure). They had root growth in around 19 hours. I only try it if I'm very sure I'm not too tired (wobbly). Might do it again, no advantage besides a few hours I think. AleX Noel.
