We've only had a smiggen of rain in the last 6 weeks (mostly brief thunderstorms/tornadic cells every 7-8 days)... My empty - fertilized & reseeded - pasture should've been over knee-high by now - but it's only 4-6"!!

It's been so dry and unusually hot (90 degrees on Easter!!) That I'm already having to water my front gardens - just to help my 'drought tolerant' Marigolds catch root.

I've bought out a store of Soaker hoses for the Pumpkin/squash patches. I'm fearing a worse drought than last summer!

I'm eyeballing some old cheap hoses I have. All have leaks. Debating on the best way to turn them into much needed soaker hoses - I'm still short on covering all veg gardens. And how long - and how many times per week - should I turn the 'soaker hose irrigation system' on??? I'm placing them right next to the GP/GS seedlings to wear to the vines will grow over the soakers.

Too early Kyle? We have been on water restrictions for the last 4-5 months.. Finally got a rain shower a week ago,,first rain since November. No rain in sight... So maybe to early for Tenn,,,but not to early to say drought here..Tenn and NC have been hogging all the rain...LOL...

Actually KY is hogging all the rain.... They're just sending brief tornadic dowbursts our way... We've got storm chance the next 3 days - granted we had storm chance 4 days last week - I think 5% of TN actually got a 5-10 minute storm!!

Granted, Weathermen are only accurate 5 minutes before a tornado hits someone... but I guess it's better than they used to be **grin***

My three hay suppliers haven't had enough moisture to grow their fields high enough for harvest. It's been since the '99 drought that they haven't gotten a first cut by end of April. Last year we only got two cuttings (generally get three on a good year). First was OK - second was terrible - no nutrition in it due to no moisture for 3 months.......

Usually, I get a 'gut feeling' and it's in the right ballpark. My 93 year old grandfather (kept a 2 acre garden until 85) was the same way - he can still predict the summer/winter climate in The Bay area with good accuracy.

You can have that Division 1-AA level (Mustangs). I am Division 1-A guy all the way Go Dogs! By the way, CAL Poly is a nerd school, there are no real athletics at that school, no money for it. It all goes to the Engineering Department.
