Today, I got one of the centers for my pumpkins ready to plant and I wanted to run my process by you all in case I really blew it with this one, at least I can make changes and get the next four right. First, I dug a 2'x 3' deep hole for the gopher wire cage. Next, I added the cage and filled it in with 8 parts dirt, and one part a mix of gypsum, worm castings, organic potting soil and a little scoop of Dr. Earth. I mixed that well and kept repeating the process until the hole was filled. The mound is now about 2' above groung level. I built a small 4'x 6' shelter-greenhouse around it to protect it from the wind and will be putting a cover over the top. You can see the structure on our diary site. Thanks-K
