Milford

milford, CT,

Here in CT we just got 5 inches of rain today. I just tilled the patch last week and was wondering if all that rain is going to cause a compaction/soil problem. There are some puddles, but considering all the rain it doesn't look that bad. Should I re-till when the soil dries up or leave it be? Mark

milford, CT,

Sorry, I underestimated...checked my rain gauge after dinner, measured 7.8 inches. The good thing is any puddling disappeared within a 1/2 hour after the rain stopped. After seeing how well it drained and the loose texture the soil maintained I'm going to let it be!

Mark,

We got about 8" here in Stratford buddy. We'll never know how much more since the gauge overflowed!

I've been trying to get my patch worked up for 4 weeks now. Just as its about dry to till, it rains 3 - 5 inches and puts me on hold again. The thing that is really aggravating is that it has been raining like that only in my area of the state!!! I am wondering if its every gonna stop. My patch could be tilled tomorrow evening, go figure its supposed to rain tomorrow!!!!! ARGGGGHHH Luckily I haven't started my seeds yet. I am kind of scared to now, until my patch is ready!!!!

I've had the weekend off since Thursday to do yard work and nothing but rain all weekend. I managed to get a bit of patch work done but only 3-1/2 planting hills are completed and only one hoop house is up. I had 6 yards of composted soil dropped off on Saturday morning and the truck got stuck in the mud next to the patches. Tire ruts are strewn about the lawn from two trucks that had to pull the first one out. Ah.....deep breath, more friggen work.......

We had a great run of weather the last two weeks. I knew it couldn't last but this is my time and it hurts to be stuck in the mud.

We had three inches of rain the first of the month. The TAGRO truck delivering 15 yards got stuck....Boy, was he pissed!
