In Santa Cruz, we get a fair amount of fog each morning until about 1pm when it clears and then we get lots of sun. We've set up small greenhouses around the seedlings (4x6 feet) It seems like it is important to try and keep the soil temperatures consistent to about 72 degrees night and day. Is that correct? How might I keep our soil warm until the sun comes out? I may be able to bring electricity to the patch but is there another way? Is there an inexpensive way? Also our patch is about a quarter mile from our house so constant monitoring doesn't work. We do go there twice a day. How do timers work? Thanks for the help!- Kristine and Riley
P.S. All our seeds sprouted! Our 2006 line up is: 1180 Daletas, 1420.5 Larue, 695 Handy, 1314 Beauchemin, 1097 Beachy and the 1233.5 Reiss. We also have five friends that are now growing too.

Is the quarter mile from your house to the patch all on your property? I think that Oregon Scientific makes a "repeater" that extends the the range of their sensors. You'd have to use more than one to go as far as you need to go. I don't know if they can do that.

Our patch is on another property about 1/4 mile away. There is a house about 300 feet away from the patch with electricity but it is a rental and it may be hard to use their electricity.
