My 998 Werner was filed, soaked and planted on Saturday. When it popped out of yesterday I could see that the seed leaves were smooth and tan, not the usual "fuzzy" green. When I removed the seed coat off of the leaf, I saw that the green layer inside the seed coat (that I believe should make up the outer part of the cot)was not on the leaf, but still inside the seed coat. Anyone had this happen before? Advice? The only thing tht might have casued it would be a seaweed soak that was too strong. Please help!

Give it time, the "fuzz" will show up in a few days. The seed is very very young still no need to worry. Get it under a light and watch it green up.

Many of mine looked the same way after popping up. They turned green after light exposure. The green layer you saw likely came off with the shell. No problem IMO.

Thanks for the help guys. Hey, good news- the cots are greening up nicely after some time under a grow light and are looking normal. Looks like a false almarm (knock on wood).

Why get in a big hurry? Leave the seed shell alone. Every once and awhile mist the seed shell with a spray bottle to keep it soft. It will eventually come off on its own. Later Scott.
