Someone in the chatroom recommended that I get a dirty water pump to pump water from a small pond into my patch. An internet search gave me sites primarily in the UK. Can anyone recommend a type from the US. Or advise me as to which brands or types to avoid. thanks

It is also called a trash pump. My pump is from northern tool. I bought it used($100w/pipe). Look to see if anyone near you had a flooded basement. My pump was used once. It works great! I had to "prime" the pump because I did not use a foot valve. The foot valve belongs at the front end of the intake hose. Get solid flex-hose or pvc for the input pipe. I also built a "house" around it to protect it from rain. be sure to drain it good(water and gas),if you leave it outside.

the trash pumps i know about shoot hundreds/thousands of gallons per hour, there are fairly cheap submersable pumps online, I paid like $20 for mine you have to know how much lift you need, as in how much higher is your garden than the level of your pond

If you desire to move large amounts of water, steer clear of electric pumps with less than 1 horsepower. Gas powered pumps have worked much better for me.....in the 3.5 to 5 horsepower range. Harbor Freight has junk except for the Robin pump, which is ALWAYS on back order. Pacer brand pumps work extremely well.

Hey Mike , I have a HONDA (Goldwing) motorcycle . Think I could rig up a stand for the rear wheel to provide power to turn a water pump ?
