I was wondering how germination has gone for those planting a 1370 Rose seed this year. Does the seed take longer than most to germinate? I traded one of these seeds to someone. He planted it last Saturday, and as of yesterday, it hadn't sprouted. His other seeds, started at the same time, were sprouted by at least Tuesday.

First one was a mutant ( just a stub with no leaves )... Second one didn't germinate.... Third one looks good... only had to burn three to get a good one LOL. Would like to hear how others are making out with starting this seed........... Steve

First one came up with three cots: one tiny and fine, one medium deformed and dry and one big nice one. Took two days longer than the rest. The second one also took a couple days longer, but looks greeeeeeeat!

Still hoping to see some life on my 1367.5 Rose seed. It swelled and split the seed coat w/o any root or radicle showing after 5 days. Placed it in a peat pot and watching for results daily. Keeping a vigilance...LOL! Best of luck everyone! Duff

Mine came up in 3 days and is the best looking I have at this point....no mutations, perfect example of what you'd want your seedlings to look like.

1370 was sort of a folded looking seed to start with. after no sign of anything, i cut it open carefully. inspection showed it seemed to have germinated but failed to push its way out of the seed. i stuck it in dirt to see if it would take off but it wouldnt.

I could not get mine to germinate last year. I figured that it was my fault as I was using the warm paper towel method. Most others did fine.

The 1370 is a big fat seed. My 1st one did not germinate. I started a second one. Its been so crazy work wise around here I forgot I started the soak on the second one until 36 hours later. The 36 hour soaker germinated after 24hr @85 degrees. Looks Great.

Both of mine took longer than average to sprout. One is a very nice looking seedling, the other is stunted. Don't have the nerve to kill it though.

I had big plans to grow the 1370 and the 670 Daigle. I was going big and orange this year. My 1370 did not germinate :( and the 670 is severly deformed with multiple leaves sprouting in a little clump. So much for going orange this year.

i have gotten into the habit of snipping the seeds all the weigh around before putting into SS mix... my 1370 came up and said hello in the usual 72 hours flat, and since then has been a little slow to show off, but is definitely ready right NOW to be put out in the patch. no problems. eric g

Between the 1370 and 1068 several growers have had germination problems and/or abnormal appearence. Taking the 1068 or 1370 as an example several things come into play. With limited planting the first year or two you dont hear about these problems. Then a seed gets hot and everyone who can get one will have it in there germination program. With large plantings all over the place this year you will hear more about the failures, that 10 percent or so that dont go. Some is due to poor germination skills, some to dud seeds. It happens. You just never hear of it until everyone and his brother trys growing it. Ron and I got 11 out of 12 1068 seeds to germinate. We had one 1370 rose and thats doing very well also. Pap

My 1370 started germination in 7 hours (soaked 4 hrs prev). It is up now and looking good (did have only one Cot leaf which I split just as someone mentioned in an above post.
1068 is the first seed in 4 years that did not germinate. Long story there. But I guess it wasn't meant to be (thanks Ron and Dick for replacing the obvious fake seed received through a trade).
