Well my main vine is now 3 feet long had to stake it against the wind.

Still looks like I have a possiblility of getting my first pumpkin this year.

At 3 feet, I think, you can begin to bury the vine. I do so and I'm only staking the tip. For that I use little bamboo sticks. I stake they crosswise like scissors over the vine.

Larry , besides staking & vine buring how about planting corn around your growing area to help knock down the wind........

I'd be careful burying the vine so early, you might have issues getting male flowers like I did last year.
