I've had my three competition plants in the patch, under unheated hoophouses(about 4' X 5' in size). Today we are getting a steady, cool, soaking rain. I decided to remove the hoophouses, and let the rain soak in around the young plants. I'll likely cover them before dark, as it may get below 40 degree F tonight; also I don't want some critter stepping on them.
Do any of you do the same thing. My thinking is, that the rainwater might stimulate the plants into quicker growth. It will hopefully get the earthworms moving around the plants. Any thoughts?

unless the temps get over 90 in the 'houses, keep them on there until the plants outgrow them.
the more they are protected, the more they can "concentrate"
on growing, lol. perhaps the natural breezes blowing on them might do some good, like during the day only, but
personally i am attempting to keep them away from any
damaging elements. ANY damaging elements.
and, uhhh, watch your step, lol! later---eric g
