I have four plants started in peat pots. The 1187 Werner, 1178 Rivard, and two Papez 992's. The Werner and Rivard popped up in 8 days virtually exploding from the soil. It took several days for the first true leaf to emerge. The seed leaves are quiet large on both and developed quickly. The 2 Papez seeds took 12 days to pop up and did so in a slow manner, a little at a time. The seed leaves are still small and sort of deformed in appearance but the first true leaves started appearing within a couple days of the plants popping up. Is the fact that the first true leaves appearing so early on these small plants a good thing? Does this make them superior to the 2 big plants? Photos are on my Diary if anyone wants to take a look.

It doesn't really matter at all. You'll find a wide variety of early seedling traits that will most all level off in a few weeks. Some seed cotyledons aren't as well forms as others. Likewise, as seeds age the stored carbohydrates begin to wain. Once the plants true leaves start making real energy the plants will all get going.

are you going to grow any of your seeds from that big&orange bigmax from last year?
that was one sweet looking pumpkin.

Unfortunately I don't have the garden space and I really want to concentrate my efforts on the AG. My mom has a couple of the seeds from that Big Max started though. Keep me updated on how they do, hope they do well for you Ed! The seeds you sent me are terrific, thanks a bunch!
