I had a problem with 24D a few years back, and see that my second step of my agway lawn care contains 24D. Anyone have a clue as to how long 24D stays effective until it's potency wears thin enough to worry about uncovering my cloches?

Rock as far as any residual effects in the air through volatilization, that should be gone immediately or at least the first day. 2,4-d actually breaks down in about 2 weeks in the soil, but volatility shouldn't be a factor during this time. I would have no problem uncovering the day after the treatment.

Ditto.
But I'd add that the Ester form of 2,4-d is the only one that can volatilize. The only danger from the amine form of granular 2,4-d (more common) is that of dust.
Like Jim said; keep covered until the following day.

Thx fellas.. I like my green lawn, but dont want to be a victim of my own doings.. The 4 step programs by companies such as agway and Scotts are super easy and have great results. I just had concern with past problems.. Thx again for the words of positive nature for me!
