The last few days i have been walking around in my pumpkin patch and i have noticed this strange bug on the leaves and vines. It is orangish red and has long black legs and long antennas. If anybody knows what this is please tell me.

The most likely and damaging culprit this time of year is te Cucumber Beetle:

Is this what you have?

That is a Squash Vine Borer (SVB) and is looking to lay eggs. You need to eradicate it from your patch immediately. It will kill your plants if you do not get an insecticide that can handle it. Sevin can't do it. You need Warrior T or something like that.

Like Rock I thought it *sounded* like a SVB. But it's early....maybe not to early in Mississippi though?
I hope it isn't but.....

I might not be remembering right - but I could've sworn that a SVB is actually a moth Larva.... I'm seeing something similiar in my Cannas - not my GPs.. Going to spray a systemic on them today.. What I'm seeing your picture is similiar to a Harlequin bug - according to my pest books they go after Cabbage and Horseradish...
