I am heating water in the sun in a water tub 300 gal. is it fine to use this water? can i treat the water with bleach or clorine or something else, should i worry

I had real algae problems in my warming tank last year. I opted to cover the tank with black plastic. This pretty well solved the problem. You can also add low levels of copper sulfate (blue stone). If you research this on the net it is used to control algae in livestock drinking water as well as in swimming pools. It is also a fungiside and an essential nutriant. I guess I was concerned about prolonged use causing toxic effects. However it should be safer than chlorine.

I use a little bleach and it seems to work fine.
