I laughed out loud today. On my way to work, I drove down to the pumpkin patch to open the cold frames - in heels and a suit (not pink)! Now anyone can garden in jeans and tennies - you've got to be tough to do it in heels. Each pumpkin plant space is sectioned off with twine. it didn't show up very well, so I tied purple ribbon at each corner. Yep! It's a girly garden!

That entire thread last week made me curiuos. Who of you, out there, are women whose pumpkin project is primarily yours? How many years have you been growing pumpkins? How have you faired at the weigh-offs? Glenna

Glenna, have we met?? I cant remember. Maggie, Michelle, me, and you....wow 4 girls growing in Massillon!! This is getting extreme!!! Massillon has GOT to have the girl-power category won in the pumpkin world. GO US !!!!

This is my 5th year growing. I too run around in a skirt (but with boots) in the mornings!!!! then i change shoes.

I try to kick boy butt but normally only "try". Heidy takes care of that for me (way to represent heidy!!). My biggest 2 last year were 1032 and 1053.

I've been out in the patch in dress clothes before! That's where the girliness ends though. But the patch is always mine, except for this year because I'm in Pennsylvania, ha ha. But for the last 3 years before this, it's been mine.

Hey this is way too cool!!!!
We Girls R-O-C-K, I wasn't aware of another gal grower in Massillon, this is awesome!
This will be my second year growing and I am hooked.
My personal best is 691 and hope to break that this year:)
Sorry I haven't attempted the open the hoops bit in the heel thing yet, I do however have the pajama and boots outfit pretty well mastered, I haven't been spotted yet
(that I know of) but don't worry I'm reserved with my wardrobe, sleep pants and t-shirt, no skimpy stuff for me:)
Hope to maybe have a girl pow-wow sometime so we can devise how to kick boy butt good this year!

Paula Zehr, Gerry Checkon & Geneva Emmons are all former World Record holders. I'd have to say that some women are great growers. Brook wife would be kicking his butt but he keeps her locked in the cellar! LOL

I have to admit that my wife beat me last season, though it is only because I had to go and split 5 pumpkins and use my sixth biggest at the weigh off...so there. BTW...am I the only man that is kind of, well.....I guess there is just something about seeing my wife in the patch with whatever she decides to wear. I think it might be a distraction technique...men beware!

No Christie, we haven't met - but I certainly would look forward to it. Actually we are neighbors. I figured it out last fall. While driving to Canal Fulton, I saw this emense pumpkin in a yard and said," Hey! I saw that pumpkin on BP.com!

My neighbour and his "Life Partner" have a huge garden Fruits mostly I believe, I saw her,,, um him??? working in the field in a blouse/apron thingy the other day and thought wow thats the hairiest/ugliest chick I have ever seen.... Oh well they sure keep their property well tended. Sorry about hi-jacking this post just thought about your comment of heels and a Suit had to share....
