Set out 3 plants-- took off on 4wheeler to get wind protection supplys- about 15min. came back to find chickens eating plants!!arrrgh...They tore some whole leafs off and ripped others apart. I guess I'll let them go for now and and keep an eye out for growth problem's--I have back up's and shake-n-bake!

As long as they didn't get the growing tip, they should be fine.

we have had chickens make salad out of our plants a few times. Unless they ate off the main tip they will recover. We find death by fire and a slathering of BBQ sauce helps. A cool beverage of choice served with the above really seams to help.

Shannon is right, shake-n-bake is more of a late season thing, always BBQ after Memorial Day until the the week after Labor day. I prefer to apply the BBQ sauce late and with a brush, watch out if you get it too hot it will burn. After the BBQ I prefer to water it in with fresh lemonade, others prefer cold beer. If you're using beer or hard lemonade be carefull not to over water. You may have wilting come tuesday morning.

Fried chicken BBQ sounds like the plan for the cause.

I would also like to say Chickens when a Patch is grown up more can be a pumpkin patches best friend. We would let ours free range threw the patch about 1/2 before sunset. They ran threw it like kids at an amusement park..after drinking 3 red bulls and eating a bag of sotton candy. Eating every bug in site.
