I apologize for double posting this. I also posted it in the disease and pest forum. I'm hoping to get some answers this morning before I go shopping.
I have developed a big vole problem in the patch. Are spring type mole traps effective for voles also or do I need another form of trap?

I had a real bad vole problem at the beginning of spring. I used mouse traps, decon mouse bait and gopher peanuts to get rid of them. The mouse bait and mouse traps worked the best.

I hired a professional pest control company to take care of my mole and vole problem. He is using traps in the mole tunnels and poisonous bait stations for the voles. So far we have caught two voles in the mole traps along with a couple moles. Also the poison bait has been getting some hits. Some pest control experts will tell you that you cant kill the voles with the mole traps, but I have seen it work at least twice.

My neighbour planted a large amount of garlic last fall. His garden is almost free of voles now and I got them all LOL
I´m preparing a few gallons of garlic solution now (crushed garlic cloves in water, stinks horrible after 3 days) to water the tunnels. The voles laugh about my traps so there´s not much else to do here.

Ever saw a cat digging in the patch hunting voles?
If you have one to share, I´ll take it LOL

You can reduce, but not eliminate, voles by keeping your vine well pruned and keeping it buried. Voles like dense grass and underbrush and a well thinned vine doesn't give them much hiding room.

As long as you have walking boards in your patch theres a risk of voles.
