I'm sure that in one way or another, most of us can relate to this.

Snoopy.com is holding an essay contest to mark the 40th anniversary of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," the TV special which first aired in October 1966.

Entrants are asked to write 500-600 words about their worst Halloween experiences. Submissions must be received by July 21, and the winner will be announced in time for ABC-TV's re-broadcasting of the special this October. Grand prize is an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Wow, I'd love to win an expense paid trip to Santa Rosa! Oh, I forgot, that's where I live. Actually the Schulz Museum is really nice, and they have a great Halloween celebration. They show "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" on a big outdoor screen at night. It is pretty cool.

We have the series on DVD. My three-year old loves them.

I like the part when Sally goes into the diatribe about wasting her Halloween waiting with Linus for the Great Pumpkin to show. One minute she's defending him from the wisecracking gang, then she turns to him... "ALRIGHT! WHERE IS HE???"
