When you are ready to put on the beef, are all secondaries and main vine terminated and buried so all energy goes to the pumpkin?

I am thinking I will have 380 to 600 sq ft of plant by June 30, Knock on wood.

if you have had a good spring start usually three to four sets of sides before the pumpkin your pollinating have already been terminated at 12 ft before the female is ready.

our goal is to be in this position by the 1st to 5th of july.( earlier if its been a fantastic spring
( it has not here in ri))

by doing so a lot of the plants energy before the fruit is not used for plant growth so a lot of the nutrients ,etc go into the fruit.

within another couple weeks the entire plant BEFORE the fruit has filled out and been terminated.

at this point (mid july) the pumpkin should be large enough to handle the anticipated daily growth rates to follow.

no need to pollinate to early unless you have a special event your planning on attending in early sept.

It is still raining in CT. I think the plants need a little more sun.
