My plants get between 6 and 7 hours direct sunlight a day. Unfortunately there isn't much I can do to improve on this. Is this enough to get a decent size pumpkin? The plants are growing at a fast pace and looking good.

your plant most likely have bigger than normal leaves tring to make up for the lack of sun light the question you or I ask you is what do you concider decent size 800-1000 lbs is totally possible depending on your skill and seed and soil ect with the amout of sunlight you described..mark

Hey Ed, thanks for the support but the 1K comes from your end, I'm already betting on it. I'm a newbie and you got the experience! I would love to grow one at least 500 but I guess us rookies always dream big! lol

Move to the Netherlands. We have 18 hours of sun a day at the moment. Move back in the winter when we only have 5 or 6.

I think you'll be fine...I'd be more worried about Dutch Brads problem...Since the pumpkin plant will push all that sunlight towards the sync only at night...gotta push the extra 6 hours of stored energy in half the time...could be some serious weight, 20-30 lbs a night isn't as scary as 50-60 lbs a night...Yikes!

one ri grower in particular gets an average of 6 to 7 hrs per day such as you. the last two years he has been well into the 1100 and 1300 pound club with a couple more over a grand thrown in. yes six to seven is enough ,so long as the rest of the program is on target. pap
