Fissssh,
On at least one of my plants, I'm getting a few slower growing secondaries. My first secondary on one side is almost twice as long as the one the other side. I think the short/slower growing ones could be self-terminating into a cluster of male flowers(are you seeing this). I've seen this happen on some secondaries, last yr. and the yr. before.
It is a little frustrating, but what can I do. I don't know if it's environmental, or genetic. I'm wondering how common it is? Last year, one of my plants had these short, self-terminating secondaries for about the first 8' on the mainvine, after that, I had nice vigorous secondaries.
Are your plants getting plenty of moisture? Maybe this is due to stress, caused by lack of moisture?

Thank you Doug for the reply , plenty moisture & out far as well,, next to 1068 is wifes 672 & everytime i plant that seed as back up its a great looking plant & growes nice-big -fast long secondarys-,,iv cut off the secondarys on one side so the 1068 has room & just incase. (( I think lesson to be learned is not to pay a fortune for seed so i dont make mistake by having to choose plant thats not as good as back up !!!! becides back up grandparents are just as good 723 x 712 & 846 x 810
