Subject: Main vine Blowout , Question ?

My main vine blewout and tore in half in 2 places today on the 1124 hester ,This is plant that turned in to dobblevine so i termanated everything except a back main that pointed forward , it was at 12.5 ft out and had nice secondarys and looked normal , only good think is theres a pumpkin befor the blowouts at 11 ft out it will be ready to pollenate in few days! question is what causes blowouts ?? iv never had one before??

Hey fisssh just posted a similar reply, My main is only 7' long but the plant seems ok so far just found it today Maybe there was an alien in it.

blowouts are caused by many things, sometimes genetic and nothing can be done. Can also be caused by too much fertilizing or inconsistant watering, weather fluctuations, or a combination of any of the above. I have had a main vine blow out last two years with seemingly no reason for it besides weather or genetics.

Both of the mains on my 2 plants blow out this year. both splits were close to teh stump area. on the 781.5 the vine were it split it laying flat down on the ground and loosk HUDGE. same with my 378.5 from last year, plants still seem to be growing allright.
