Hi, I recently noticed that one of my primary vines has a huge crack/chuck missing out of if (roughly 1/3 of the dia.) approx. 1’ down from the tip. Should I sever the vine at this point to encouraging a new primary (offshoot) or let it go. It appears to be beyond saving (looks pretty much healed over). I’m guessing it won’t provide many nutrients to anything it yields due to the damage. Any thoughts… Thanks
PS. If I were to have discovered this issue earlier was there anything I could have done to aid the issue?

If it healed itself over, it is probably because its still healthy and viable. I would leave it as it is, not sever unless you notice no growth beyond it at all. The plant will naturally grow out a diffrent vine if it cant get primary vine to grow and you probally dont need to sever the vine to "encourage" this process.
I have had a vine split 3/4 of the way throuhg, heal up and produce with no problems.
