Rain, rain go away, little Jerry wants to play (in the garden) 10 inches in 10 days, maybe more. I am not complaining I am grateful that we did not get what the Gulf coast +got last year, or the tsunami that devistated some parts of costal Asia. At least I have my family, home and a garden to play in when it stops raining in a day or two. I am sure there will be rainbows to awe at.

Did any one save any of their pumpkin regatta canoes from last year? All that rain is ridiculous. The Weather forecasts had it right on when they said for the NE to look out for subtropical activity this year. Atlantis 06.

my patch is destroyed, topsoil is pretty much gone but the plants have survived. 8" deep ruts all over the place in my patch. Another residual thunderstorm ruined my hopes of spraying daconil today. Outlook is not so good. The news says statistically this amount of rain will hit our region once every 300 years. Go figure, my first serious season of growing AG's and it happens.

Don't give up. Go the course. The plants will come back from all the rain. Just go out & try to fill in the deep ruts. Once the sun comes back out & it starts to dry up, you'll see the plants really start to take off again. I had the soil under my plants underwater for two days a few years back & they survived okay. I grew a 747# pumpkin off that plant. It took about a week to dry up, but once it did, the plant went crazy. I hope it dries up for you guys soon. Take care & I hope you have better luck the remainder of the season.

Three days in standing water is oxygen shorting big time. If you got flooded and drained in a lesser time you will more than likely see no damage that will not recover. Do what you have, to do, to drain a flooded patch as quickly as is possible.

I tried to bury my vines tonight. Shovel full after shovel full of mud to bury the vines. Wasn't much fun trying to stay on the boards as they sunk into the mud......
