I think the biggest pumpkin will be grown in the Pacific North West this year. Watching the weather channel this morning has convinced me of this. What do you think?

Could be, our weather has been outstanding so far and the long range forcast is good. I saw a certain part of British Columbia (Port Albernie on Vancouver Island) that is experiencing amazing weather and the BC record holder just happens to live there...go figure.
There are alot of great growers here in BC and a bunch of great ones in Washington State and Oregon...you could be right with this one. Not taking any bets though.

weather has a strange way of turning on you when you least expect it.
my vote is going to be cast in mid to late september. i dont count anyone out yet.
i will agree however that the east coast has not had the best of conditions (yet) this season.

I think the upper midwest could have some nice pumpkins this year. Minnesota has been about 5 degrees above average for the growing season, so far, I think. A little on the dry side though. I just hope for a personal best, and a nice looking pumpkin. There could be some big ones coming out of ND, SD, MN, WI, and IA. I think this region is generally overlooked, but someday a WR could come from out of here.

I think that pap and the rest of the Rhode Island crew should never be counted out.

Turken, be careful what you say...them's fightin' words! We'll see what happens "when the tailgates drop" on October 7th. We have been having some pretty perfect weather this year though here in Northern California...

I live in the NW, this is my first year growing AG's, and I have yet to get a female flower, vines look good, but I was hoping to have a fruit by now.

Don't rule out Ontario or the Canadian east coast growers. We've had some fairly decent weather here. There's also a lot of very good growers here, as well as a few up & coming growers that might just surprise everyone. I agree with Pap, it's a way too early to count any region out. I'd like to wish all the best to all of the growers this year, no matter where you live & I hope we all grow new PB.

There goes my perennial excuse of "the weather sucked." I guess I'll have to blame my pathetic growing skills and complete lack of understanding of agriculture for this year's results...
