Hi,
I currently have 3 pumpkins growing off of one primary vine and all are doing well (growing approx. 3-4”/day). I’d hate to have to cull one or two of them to grow them really big. Is this practice necessary in order to grow a world class pumpkin?

Nacho, there have been a few occurences of more than 1 1K# fruit off the same vine. Common theory is to eventually cull to a single fruit per plant for max. potential. Grow "em BIG!!! Peace, Wayne

pick the one thats growing best, has the better natural angle off the main ( less to position later on ) and of course shape. ( round or oblong are the usual early shapes) i like oblong because they tend to hold their shape all through the cycle while round ones sometime can fold on the blossom,or sometimes even wheel out. your first fruit should be the better at this point if its doing its job. likewise second and third down should be smaller. means nothing if you like the second or third. they will go once the fruit in front of them is culled.
