Some of the fruit on 3 of my 6 plants have developed splits around 14-20 days after pollination. They are mostly longitudinal along the stem and 2-3 mm deep but a few are in the body of the fruit and gradually went into the cavity over several days. Could this be from too much water? The weather here has been dry for the past month with daytime highs of 75-85. I've been putting about 2 inches of water/week on the patch. Haven't had this problem before. Any ideas? Thanks

Let me assure you ...that when it happens, it's enough to really p*ss one off!
Just be greatful that it hasn't happened sooner. Ol' Lincoln Mettler used to say, "That if you're not splitting them....you're not trying hard enough!"
However, some genetics have a reputation of growing stem splits.
