I know how cool nights will effect the growth of the pumpkin, but can extreme heat have the same effect. Could a string of 90+ degree days cause a slight dip in weight gains?

usually when the heat is on my pumpkins really pack on the weight. I think warmth ='s fast quick gains and cool temps = slower but longer growth. Just my opinion.

The growing season the the Pacific Northwest is definetely longer than that East of the Mississippi. Our nightime temps are around 52-55°. It dropped to 50° last night. If we get a night that stays in the 60's, we have a hallelujah breakdown!

Some of our biggest blowout blossem losses have come mid morning after a very cool night before. To help eliminate this situation at present when this condition exists we blanket at night and do not remove until mid morning.( to eliminate the shock of cold to hot right away in the am ) The blanket believe it or not keeps the pumpkin warm but not hot. it stays that way until you pull it off later in the morning. by then the pumpkin ubder the blanket has gradually warmed back up. spurts of any kind are ng. pap
