Unusually hot and dry in central MN. I think the last 4 months have been somewhere around 5 degrees F above the average.

Same thing here, but we get the moderating effect of the ocean. What's even more unusual than the heat are the thunderstorms! It's the first time in years I can remember hearing thunder in the summer.

Its been "HOT" in Oklahoma Too. Been in the 100's for a while. We have had a good "cold" front move thru yesterday and today and we are only in the 90's.

I think it was about 112 here Sat. Might make 113 today. These are the offical temps. It has been really humid here. It is hard to imagine San Diego getting that hot. My plants are really hurting. Just I plant doing good.It was a 100 at 9am this mornng in my garden. My temp gage out in the plants showed a whopping 115 yesterday. I could only stay out there till 8 am. Then back out there at 9pm.

Like I have said in my diary last year was the hottest summer on record here. This year is scorching hot compared to last year. It almost like every USDA growing zone has moved up one zone around here. If we did not have all that rain this year It would be a dust bowl. It's as dry as it gets in Sept. right now. 110 plus temps are causing expendential moisture loss in the ground. I'm going to lose some native trees and plants if this does not end in a few days. A lot of dead leaves showing up in my oak trees right now. If it gets hotter next year, you might as well call this Raisin Country rather than wine! 113 yesterday 112 so far today. Weather Channel had it 115 and 114. As if it really matters when it's this hot. lol

It was so cool her this morning that I could see my breath @ 7:30 & it's only suppose to get into the mid-late 70's today. It's suppose to get back into the high 90's tomorrow. It was much hotter last year for us up here in Central Ontario, Canada.

LOL. If your handy with a garden hoe, your always welcome here. Weather is suppose to warm up today, with a chance of a thunder storm. We need the rain, but not the storm.

It was 113 in my home patch and 114 at my demonstration garden at my school. Can someone turn down the thermostat? Well at least there's no question which of my plants are heat tolerant. :( ~ Kev

Finally it's ending! As bad as that was it does not come close to the heatwave I experienced in Yuma, Arizona years ago in July. I believe it was in the summer of 1985. It was just like living in Death Valley. It would stay near or above 100 degrees at night. The highs were in the mid 120's for day's on end. It was a dry heat though. lol If this climate change going on gets anywhere near that here, I think it will be time to invest in some nice iceberg real estate in Alaska. Besides J.D. proves you can grow some nice pumpkins there.
