I measured over noon hour today to find my pumpkin has grown about four inches over night. At day 12 (or is it 13?), anyway one of those days I am at 29 inches circumfrence from stem to blossom end. Good, bad or average?

Day 12 or 13 doesn't say much. Day 20 says a lot more, but even then anything can happen.
Day 10 should be about 25", day 12 about 34" amd day 13 about 38" if you are going for a 1000 lbs.
But remember there are fast starters that don't end up anywhere and slow pokes that get big later in the season.

I am a first year grower so 1000lb would be a dream come true.
I just want something 300+ pounds that doesn't split on me. Then next year spend my kids college money to grow one bigger!
