Well you can freeze them if your freezer dosn't have an automatic defroster. Also you can store them in bags in a area of your house that has constant temp and humidity like your basment.

After they are processed and dried - I take my old glass canning jars and put the seeds in.... Instead of metal top - I use a coffee filter and screw it down with the metal ring that fits those canning jars.
I've stored them in the house as well as in the barn's fully enclosed (and heated) feedroom.... The seeds have done well.
And you can tell with just a GLANCE if there is any mildew problems... don't have to open containers to look.

ummm, i keep all of my seeds from my own pumpkins in quart Mason jars as well, but i use the lids. seems to me that any unwanted humidity could still get through any other material, and if they really are dry once they go into the jars there will be no problem. i have slowly been labeling each jar with a differently-colored label since last October; once this is done, they will alllllllll go downstairs into a thick metal cabinet, each in its own gallon Ziploc bag. they would be somewhat protected from a fire or flooded basement in this way. eric g
