Just got in from the patch and noticed slugs on the move, is there some spray i can use to do the whole patch?
Also circumference from stem to blossom end is 46 inches at day 25 good or bad?

Organic Methods include. Placing a 2 to 3 inch deep dish filled with beer within a half inch of the brim and bury so that the brim of the dish is just level with the soil. The slugs & snails will head right for the beer and drown while getting intoxicated. What is important here is that you place the dish away from the Patch and that will entice the slugs & snails away. Check on the Slug Pub daily and top up if necessary removing the dead slugs & snails. Another Organic method is to grind up egg shells and place them in lines around plants or Patch, slugs & snails will not cross any substance that is sharp. Very coarse/sharp sand has a moderate effect too and may be more practacle than the egg shells.
Slugs & snails detest salt too, try sprinkling a little salt on a slug and watch what happens, however i do not know of any traps that use salt as a bait and iff necessary cary a salt pot with you when out in the patch and give them a sprinkle. Ticing hedghogs into the Patch is a great way to keep slugs & snail numbers down, if you know that there are hedghogs in your immediate area try ticing them in with some dog food in a dish late in the evening.
Inorganic methods are obviously the slug & snail baits/pellets that area available and i think there are tapes available with bait impregnated which work on the same principal as the pellets.
Just a few ideas. Regards Mike
