Yes it is! My 670 had an ott of 278 on the 23rd of July at day 29.On the 24th(24 hrs later) had an ott of 292 with a huge blossom end split. What a disapointment(it was such a beautiful fruit!) Will the seeds be any good at day 30? Is anybody else having this problem? Thank you! Kevin

Kevin: Bummer. Sorry to hear it. I think you need at least day 40 before the seeds are mature...

Cover the split with duct tape and leave the pumpkin on the vine until obvious signs of rot appear. You may get to 40 days or more.......
Sorry sheesh, 70 pounds? unbelievable....

The second week in August is "the Valley of Death" for me. Don't over feed or over water!

I think it was from the rain. It has been very dry and hot here. 90's and even some 100's everyday now for about 3 weeks. We have had no rain since early june. The day before the pumpkin split, we got 1 inch of rain. Thank you for the replies! Kevin

Kevin, sorry to hear about it, a couple o weeks and you would have been in the record books!!! Big changes bring big problems...I have heard that slow and steady wins the race!!! There have been several threads on this site about the viability of 30 day old seeds...seems that some sprout and some don't??? Prbly not much help, but maybe someone will have the links to those posts. Peace, Wayne
