Subject: help, vine split

my vine split close to the stump when the plant was small and it seem to heal over but now i have alot of leakage. i put captan on it and down in the hole and a fan on it.did i do the right thing or should i do something else, and yes it is my best pumpkin. pollinated 7-6 and it is 185. thanks for all the help bob

had the same thing this year too. If there is any soft spots, cut them out now and apply a 5 percent rubbing alcohol to water solution on the cut areas. You want to get the rot out. If you have any fluid built up inside the vine and the top of the vine is open like a hole, take something and drill a hole in the bottom of the vien for drainage. If you do lose the stump, the plant will still be ok on tap roots. Jimmy

srub out, and apply sulfer, along with Captan dry not wet or use 10% clorox, and water let the Clorox be your wetting agent, and air lots of air
