My pumpkin gets exposed to the sun somewhat when the wind blows and the sheets go flying up. I am afraid of premature ripening, especially with the heat. Is this a big concern? I think I may go out tonight and extend the posts and maybe another sheet.

I put a sheet of white fabric directly on the pumpkin. I don't have problems with it blowing off, and it protects the pumpkin from the sun. I go the the WalMart fabric department $1 a yard rack. 1.5 yards is enough for one pumpkin.

Iowegian, Is the sheet of white fabric instead of a shade structure, or in addition to it?
