After reviewing and taking more notes from the very informative video that George Webster sent me..Within which the scientists gave very SPECIFIC desrciptions of the phenotype differences between B-gene orange and Red Skin Orange. I may have made some possibly breakthrough observations concerning theoretical Red skin gene in GPs...

In at least 2 of the varieties in my patch - they are showing ALL of the expected traits for Red skin expression - without any traits associated with B-gene expression!

I need each of you to look at your plants for the following traits:

1. Females that are GREEN until AFTER pollination. Then turn yellow. End up with VERY deep Orange Pumpkins.
2. Stems/vines that are deep green in color - not yellow.

For those of you that see these traits - IF you are selfing these plants - I would be very interested in obtaining a seed sample..

I have a pumpkin plant growing at the school that is exactly like the #1 that you describe. I thought it was a squash, but then the fruit start to turn yellow afterwards. Having trouble setting one on it though, due to the intense heat inside the greenhouse. I'll let you know if I can get one to maturity.
