Protection from animals or people...What have any of you done to protect your investment? (Patch)
Here is what I did..
I took a standard motion light and mounted it high above the patch on the house, a light comes on huh??? yaa but that is not all.
I wired 14-2 wire between the motion and the light and wired in a 24 Volt transformer. It is a standaard door bell transformer which has a range of 6 to 24 volts.
Now that I converted AC to DC I then took a 24 volt back up horn and mounted it in our living area behind the TV on a switch. You could use about any auto type horn ya could find...Infact I am about to mount a auto horn outside..
I put the horn on a switch because I have the motion light set to stay on for 5 minutes so it gives a nice off feature while I water....
Twice some cats have set it off in the early morning hours and man does my house come alive....
I wanted to share this idea of mine to help someone protect their work.....Jon

We have the same type of system for our driveway. Being out in the country we have a long driveway. When you go through the gate, the buzzer goes off. It didn't take Sam the Doberman long to realize the the buzzer meant company. The only trouble we have is when the sun sets it off. Once we had a neighbors horse conme down the driveway. Last month it was a deer. In 20 yrs. we have only seen 1 deer. Any way it lets us know when we have company of any kind.

I employ the services, of humane traps which get dumpped, in a barrel, of water and my trusty Model 7 Beeman air rifle that makes no more noise than a screen door going shut. I can assure you no critter caught, to date, has learned how, to swim, with a trap, on it's back.
I keep a block, of salt and a watering hole out, on the property away, from the patch. This may be my best practice. Legal practices vary from state to state. Know your laws and do what you have, to do quietly.
