I would assume until it is dried up and looks solid.

I kept mine going last year untill it dried up real good. I would check it everday and if I would feel it starting to get damp again I would put the fan back on it. I run my fan about 2 days more longer even after it was dried up just to be sure. Straight deconil using a small paint brush or toothbrush painted on the split worked best for me, dries up fast using a fan, seemed like to me captans or sulfer would take alot longer for it to dry.I thought it was over for my pumpkin last year but Tom Beachy kept me in the race by telling me to do this and to Remember its not over by a long shot when you get a split at the stem end, thats your thickest part of the pumpkin.

24/7 until it is dry. The one time I shut the fan off earlt I lost the fruit. This usually means building a tent over the fan high enough that air circulates, low enough that rain doesn't get the fan. It's time to be creative.
