It looked like this area might get a new record - theres never been a 1000 lber grown in the southern part of ca or even across the us in this lattude 34* or even quit higher !! my pumpkin was at 370 lbs on day 30 & was doing 25 lbs a day for quite a while before that but we were in a record heat wave ( and i dont feel that heat was the reason for size , last yrs was bigger ) but from day 30 -too- day 40 there been the coolest aug i can remember , right during the peak growth period , I just wondered if anyone else has gone threw similar ?? & do they pick up again if weather improves?

Glenn, weather definitely has an impact, but certain pumpkins will grow fast the first 30 days and poop out earlier than expected. As a heavy hitter once told me, some fruit have high weight gains over a long period of time, others come down much faster and there is nothing you can do about it, genetic. My guess if your weight gains aren't coming back up, this might be the case. You still have a huge pumpkin! Cheer up, better than mine! lol

Glenn, Hopefully you will get steady growth for a longer period on that pumpkin. If it goes heavy, who knows?

Have faith Glenn....I really want that 1068 to keep going!!! We know the genetics are there. I'm hoping the weather improves & she surprises you with renewed vigor.
