I have one plant in particular (926 Hunt) That seems to grow pumpkins to volleyballs in about 5-7 days. They SEEM fine - then I uncover them the next morning - and they've BLOWN UP.... Literally - they're cracked in 4-5 different spots with 2-4" of insides hanging out. Underdeveloped seeds are already 1" long inside. There's no saving them.
How should I handle the next round of pumpkins on this particular plant?

Didn't your diary entry just say you did some major pruning. Avoid Major pruning when trying to get a set..all that extra juice only has one place to go...keep a few on...let some plant grow until they have sufficient volume to handle a "push". Then prune and cull off slowly!

These blew-up PRIOR to pruning... And I didn't have to touch the particular plant in question..
I'm glad to know that leaving 3 on the 610 Garrell after pruning - was the right thing to do.. Thanks!

Don't prune anything! Soil and plant are way to "hot" if they're blowing that early..maybe even back off the water to slow it down..Good Luck! GrowEmBig! Chuck
