I can see that a lot of folks are having the same stress I am out here growing these AG's...... we just care alot about our babies.......My Mr Reiss is wanting to start a stem crack at the base close to the vine. I have already cut all the roots back 3 nodes on either side of the pumpkin and have added supports to keep the vine about same height of the fast growing fruit. I have read one should use latex caulk to fill the 1/4" crack. Is there other ideads I should be trying? Please Advise

A quarter inch stem crack should heal by itself. Dust it with a fungicide or spray it with Agro-K Vigor Cal twice daily.

I treat my cracks with Peroxide/water 50/50 mix, captan, and Jack Daniels. Clean the crack with peroxide/water mix after a light cleaning, then dust with captan. The Jack Daniels is for you to help calm your nerves. You could also give the Jack Daniels a splash of Coors Light or Yuengling to help heal the nerve damage.
