Girls have just stopped growing. SLO weather is very overcast, maybe when the Sun returns a growth spurt? Only at 43 days for both. My third never did get rolling but a perfect round 100lbs beauty, a great carver! One stopped at 244 OTT the other at 226 OTT. Plants have plenty of great healthy leaf's. What do ya think about leaving pumpkins till all leaf's are dead?

43 days does seem quite early to quite growing. Maybe really hot summer weather could be the cause. With healthy leaves, maybe you will get some growth in the days to come. Maybe if you wait 5 days, then remeasure, you'll see some growth. I'd also leave them on, for awhile, if you're saving seeds.

Skid, unless there is a County fair or something that you want to take your pumpkin to, leave it on the vine as long as possible. It might just be taking a small break and will continue to put on weight as long as the plant is healthy. Here in British Columbia, I've had pumpkins continue to put on weight after they were 90 days old and grew till the end of October. While the gains are not significant...they are still gains.

Patients is in order here. I like tho see the girls every morning, so they will stay until the leaves are brown and dead. In other words, girls are all dressed up with no where to go. Thank's!

It's pretty early in our season...I suspect we could get another serious heat-wave before the end. That heat wave put all my plants on hold and so we are well behind last year's numbers. I'm worried that I leached all the good stuff out of the soil already...was overhead watering 4 hours a day just to keep the plants cooler. The temps were around 105 to 110. What do you think of top dressing with rotted manure? Has anyone tried this in the middle of the season? Would it give the fruit a boost? My plants look great, so I'm hoping there's post-heatwave growth.
