The blossom end of my pumpkin is getting covered by the pumpkins growth. So, in other words, the blossom might be underneath my pumpkin when it is all said and done this season. Will this growth rate cause any problems?

The blossom end of one of my pumpkins has been underneath the fruit for a good 2-3 weeks now. The growth rate has been been fine, and I haven't seen any problems at all. Hopefully there won't be any problems hiding underneath. I did put a good few inches of sand where the blossom end started to bury itself.
The blossom end was pointed slightly downhill (very slight grade to the patch). Can that cause this problem, or is it probably just genetics and the shape of the pumpkin??

Sounds like your pumpkin has an "innie"! As with human belly buttons, some are "innies" some are "outies"! But seriously, the only disadvantage you may incur is that you will not be able to visibly inspect and treat a dreaded blossom end split. By positioning the pumpkin when small, and keeping stem and blossom end an equal distance from the ground, this is usually avoided. Even then, some will grow and cover the blossom. Just say your prayers every night and Good Luck!
