This baby's only around 40 days. It's been thickly 'ribbed' wheel since before 20 days. Rapidly, it's changed from cream/white-to-a-nice orange - in just about 3 days.

But with this change - it also is developing a deep green 'shading' between the ribs on the lower half of the 'kin. This is a B-gene plant - with the yellow ovaries and yellow vines - so I was not expecting to see green development.

Since I like both GS & GPs - it's not a big deal to me what color the 'kin turns. but I've found no data about 'kins turning from bright orange - to deep green....

What is your experiences?

Hey Teach,
Sometimes the green comes out late. What seed is it?

Pumpkin Genetics are unpredictable is my experience. I had one go from a beautiful white to solid olive green. From a plant that should have thrown orange.

Baby Beluga, 933 Zunino 2004, went from orange to about 80% dark green two weeks after the weighoff. Once it was exposed to the sun it turned dark reddish orange and then dark green. This pumpkin showed no signs of green until a few weeks before the weigh-off. This pumpkin was off the 1230 Daletas. For pictures go to:

This is off the 625 Foss - which produced White 'kins last year for me.

Anyone else with seeds from these orange-turned-green 'kins - please send me some samples for future study (hopefully you selfed these!).... I selfed everything this year. so SHOULD have plenty of seed from this one to share.

Granted - I was EXPECTING a Bi-color from another variety I'm growing. But those plants aren't handling this climate as well as the Foss variety does...So I guess I have my bicolor variety for study **grin**
