The little split at the base of my pumpkin has extended into my stem. Little or no growth for two days. Is he dead? I could stick a zip tie into the crack about three inches.
I would assume the quick reduction in growth isn't good.

Hmmm, first time no one has ever responded! I'll look deeper into the damage if I get a chance tonight, but I would appreciate some advice.

I just checked again, and I can stick a zip tie into the crack, straight back five inches before I hit any resistence. Not 100% blown, but it really has slowed him down.

I checked right away this morning and SHE has put on close to 20 pounds overnight!
I sniffed for rot and couldn't smell any then sealed the crack with caulk. It is horizontal with the stem, and when I look and probe it does not go into the cavity of the pumpkin. Still going...
