If you had a choice, this late in the season and you had 2 pumpkins on the same plant, both the same size, around 26 lbs, and you really want a good sized pumpkin from this plant, would you keep both of them for a better chance of having any pumpkin from this plant in case one splits, or for growth sake, would you take the chance and cut one from the vine?? Or would it matter with the growth part do you think this late in the year??

Depends on when they were pollinated & how they're set on the vine. If all you want is a nice porch pumpkin I'd leave them both on. Worst case scenario is you have 2 bigger than average carvers or one very happy friend.
