Hey, I've got a question, are AGs edible or not? If so, which parts are?

Being no expert on AG:s, I actually never even seen one live my wild guess is that they are like fish. I mean it's gret to get that really really big fish, but it tastes rather woody.

yes they are edible, but aren't made for taste lol I would use caution eating any pumpkin though that used any kind of fungicide or insecticide that gets absorbed into the fruit.

I have handed chunks of Atlantic Giant Pumpkins to the wonderful pie bakers in our community and no problem making good pies and as good as pie pumpkins but just needing a little more straining because of the water content.

Some A.G's look like they have a lot of beta-carotene(orange color) in their flesh.

I have made some nice pumpkin bread with AG's. The ones less than 400 pounds are the best. Some grown from generic AG seed are actually pretty good.

AG's are edible but don't contain as much natural sugar as the better pepo cookers. Look through the recipe section right here at BigPumpkins. I believe that the usual procedure is to increase the sugar by 10-15% but the rest of the baking recipe stays the same.

The orange pumkins are the best. Made a nice pie from mine last year.

A neighbor fries up the little ones like a summer squash.

Inspired by Biran C.'s post above, me and the misses cut 5 pounder from the vine, fired up the grill, drizzled some olive oil and rosemarry with black pepper on the freshly sliced pumpkin and grilled them to a golden brown. After one bite, a lot of coughing weezing and damn near upchucking ( pardon the french) we through it all out and order a pizza, double meat. Just my two cents from some yokels who dont know any better. ( We should have know something was amiss when the dog's refused to take the first bites.)
