does Mycorrhizal Fungi produce mushrooms?? I dug up 1 of my plants and the ground within 5 feet of the stump had lots of small dark brown mushrooms and the soil was filled with white thread like stuff. Is that from the Mycorrhizal? This was the 1st year i used it and i had none of that stuff last year. Stump was nice and healthy even being covered. Ants made a nest at the stump too but didn't seem to hurt it any.

Those and other mushrooms are simply the fruiting Bodies of (FUNGI). Consider the energy, and nutrients to produce them. I would say there's a real good chance they could produce Mushrooms, fungi produce special structures-for example mushrooms above ground, and truffles below- to prduce spores. Great book Tremor!!!! Those little white cobweb like threads are Mycorrhiza. Most good soils have some. High organic soils can have an amazing mass supporting the plant roots which host them. There are thousands of fungi. We know and name just a few. There are gazillions in a single grain of soil along with similar unknown numbers of bacteria.
We just had five and a half inches of rain. There are bunches of mushrooms popping up right now. My one remaining rabbit is having a gala festivity trying to out eat it's competition.
Roger pretty much covered the rest of the story.
