What makes em turn green?? The top of the ribs that are cantaloped are a nice cream color. The area between are very smooth (no cantalopeing) and now turning green these last 2 weeks. Is it Sun or lack there of??? The sun hits 1 side in the morning for an hour. But there is no green there?? Any thoughts?? The fruit is on my 522 Ceja 05. Thanks

I've also got one that turned a deep green - first between it's ribs on the underside - then the whole underside changed... Top is deep orange though....
Would be interested in some of your seeds from your 'quick change artist'... Did you happen to self/sib?

scienceteacher, yes its selfed...be happy to give you some seeds. You may get to see it. I may have to take it to the tn state fair next week. The vine/stem junction is still rotting. if it doesn't stop this weekend i have to decide what to do. I would hate to not get it weighed and the Allard,Tn. weighoff is still 5 weeks away. Its (by the OTT numbers) a new PB for me. Somewhere north of 800, :)

What seed was it? That will help with determining the green part.

Ohhh yaaaaah the 723 is the reason for your green. 723 is famous for it. It is also famous for throwing big, heavy, and not so pretty.

If you want that green to turn orange, get the fruit over to Glenn Andrews patch.
